Alexander Korsantia is a force of nature. These live performances of this Russian pianist show a red hot immediacy, excitement and adrenalin, usually absent in studio recordings. The terror of Prokofiev’s War Sonatas, the orchestral colours of Stravinsky’s Firebird (in the piano transcription of Guido Agosti) and the tongue-in-cheek of the Circus Polka and Tango: all these brilliant performances (hardly a wrong note!), captured in excellent sound, evoke the visceral emotions of a unique concert experience. Alexander Korsantia, born in 1965 in Tiblisi, Georgia, won first prize at the prestigious Arthur Rubinstein Competition in 1995. He has an active international concert career, and is based in Boston, USA.
